Talent Show Contestants Wanted

This is a call for contestants for the "NK Has Talent" Show at Spirit Day 2013.

The 13th year of NK Spirit Day will be held on March 23 at the North Kingstown High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Along with plans for pony rides, a puppet show and other interesting presentations for this free, family-oriented event, North Kingstown Spirit Day 2013 will be presenting a "North Kingstown Has Talent" show. We're calling for interested performers and would-be performers to compete.

You don't have to be a North Kingstown resident to compete.

Contestants may have acts from any genre from music to magic and may be solos or small or large groups. Anyone interested in performing is requested to submit a video or audio of a performance not exceeding 2 minutes, to be reviewed, not "judged.” Acts should not exceed 4 minutes, they must be appropriate for ears and eyes of all age groups and have a North Kingstown connection as follows: the individual or group regularly performs or practices in NK; one or more member of a group is a NK-area resident defined as living in North Kingstown, Exeter, Narragansett, South Kingstown, East Greenwich and/or Jamestown.

Entrants may submit their videos and/or audios and applications by mail to: Emily Manz, Arts and Humanities Director, West Bay Family YMCA, 7540 Post Road, N.K. 02852, or by email to emanz@gpymca.org, by Feb. 22, 2013. Prizes for talent show winners are currently being arranged.

For questions related to Spirit Day participation, please call Harriet Powell, Spirit Day Committee member, at 294-4737.
