The EG Rotary Club has been providing scholarships for deserving young high school seniors for the past 30 years. This coming year, they will be awarding an additional $2,000 annual scholarship due to a generous donation of $50,000 from Amica Mutual Insurance Company on behalf of its retiring Director and former Senior Executive Vice President, Andrew Erickson.
“Andy has always been very involved with Scouting in Rhode Island and has designated Scouting participation as the major criteria for this scholarship,” according to David Iannuccilli, Chairman of the East Greenwich Rotary Scholarship Board.
It is available to a graduating high school senior in 2013 who has been or is involved with Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. They need to live in East Greenwich or a contiguous community or been a member of a scouting unit in one of these communities; have enrolled in a college or tech program in Fall following graduation; and submit an essay of how scouting has affected them.
