Operation Holiday Cheer Collection Continues

Powdered Drink Mixes Accepted at all BankNewport locations through December 1

The community is invited to join BankNewport in showing support for Operation Holiday Cheer, a joint effort between the Lieutenant Governor’s office and the Rhode Island National Guard to send holiday care packages to Rhode Island troops deployed overseas.

Continuing through Dec. 1, all BankNewport branches will be collection locations for the community to donate single serving packages only of powdered drink mixes, such as Crystal Light, Del’s Lemonade and various iced teas. Powdered drink mixes are a popular item on the troops’ Operation Holiday Cheer wish list. Donations of bulk single-serve packets must be in plastic containers only, no glass. Loose powder in drums cannot be accepted.

At the conclusion of BankNewport’s collection drive, all community donations will be transported to the Rhode Island National Guard Armory in Warwick where the care packages will be assembled on December 9 for shipping overseas.  For more information on Operation Holiday Cheer, visit www.ltgov.state.ri.us and click on Operation Holiday Cheer.

The nearest BankNewport branch is located at 1000 Division Street (East Greenwich Square).
