Potowomut Resident Matt Plain Named Partner At Providence Law Firm


PROVIDENCE (Jan. 14, 2013) – Matt Plain has been named partner at Taylor Duane Barton & Gilman LLP effective Jan. 1.

Matt concentrates his law practice in labor and employment
law, professional liability, general liability, contract disputes, and administrative law. He serves clients in the government, as well as in the private and non-profit sectors. Prior to law school, he taught seventh and eighth grade in the North Carolina public schools for four years. 

The Providence Business News named Matt as one of its 40 Under Forty winners in 2011, and Super Lawyers honored him as a Rhode Island Rising Star in 2011 and 2012. He has been selected to serve on Leadership Rhode Island’s 2013 Iota II class. 

Matt is an active leader of a variety of professional and community organizations. He is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association’s House of Delegates; the Board of Directors for the Fund for Urban Collaborative Accelerated Program; the Board of Directors for The Manton Avenue Project; United Way of Rhode Island’s Community Advisory Board; and the Rhode Island Bar Journal’s Editorial Board. 

He is co-author of “Lunch with Legends,” a regular Rhode Island Bar Journal series featuring longtime Rhode Island attorneys.

Matt is a 1994 graduate of East Greenwich High School, and holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.Ed. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law. 

He resides in the Potowomut section of Warwick with his wife, Stephanie, and their son, Mattie Jr.
