Academy Award Nominee Eric Roberts In EG For ‘Self Storage’ Star Turn

Filming on Chad Verdi’s four film continues at the self storage place on Post Road.

“Hi Doll. Nice to meet you,” said actor Eric Roberts, extending his hand. That's how it rolls when you hang out with Hollywood.

It happened because Hollywood rolled into East Greenwich this past week. Chad Verdi's production company Woodhaven Productions, is filming "Self Storage," a horror film about self storage guards run amok.

Roberts plays one of those guards, along with Michael Berryman (the classic sweet-guy-with-a-heart-of-gold who can scare the bejesus out of you on cue).

Roberts, a veteran actor has starred in many different types of movies, including King of the Gypsies, The Pope of Greenwich Village, and the movie that won him the Oscar nomination, Runaway Train. After more than 200 movies, Roberts is a pro.

And he's complimentary about the director, his co-star Tom DeNucci. DeNucci wrote the screenplay, is directing the movie and starring in it.

"He’s smart and he’s talented and he does his homework," said Roberts. "Those three things are everything.... And he’s a nice guy with humor."

The filming began two weeks ago and actors have shifted in and out. DeNucci, a Cranston native, is a constant. He's been in all four of Verdi's films and has worked on this one for seven years.

The filming will wrap soon, with a couple scenes filmed in Cranston before it's done. Editing will take place at Verdi's headquarters, the former Methodist Church building on Main Street.

Hollywood East? Well, at the rate Verdi's going, we are at least in the running.

I am a fanatic when it comes to horror films. I have always loved to scare myself out of my own wits to see how far I could stay in front of the TV before I give up and turn in. Self Storage seems like a good title and I am already imagining wild scenes running through my mind as I'm writing this, like ghosts/souls sneaking up behind thier backs while they are walking past the storage facilities or some things knocking from inside storage lockers. - http://ezestore.com.au
