Yes, it's true: school starts on Wednesday. We've attached the pdf files for bus routes for all six EG public schools, OLM and Rocky Hill School. If you have questions about your child's bus route, you can contact Deb Murphy at Ocean State Transit (884-1552) or the EG School Department.

When you click on the file, at the top, next to "Scribd," click on full screen. That should give you a clearer version. Let me know, please, if that helps.

Why only am pick up times? I'm hoping to find out when my kid will get off the bus...any ideas?

Question sort of related to bus schedules:
my children aren't yet school age, but will go to Frenchtown when they are. It seems like the buses run an hour earlier for Frenchtown than for the other two elementary schools. Does it start earlier for some reason?

HillResident, for the last at least 15 years, the EG schools have run three separate start times: EGHS and Cole start around 7:30, Eldredge and Frenchtown 8:20, and Meadowbrook and Hanaford 9. That's done to get the most out of the fewest buses. There has been talking about trying to reduce the start times to two but that is still in the theoretical stages. I hope this helps!

My two cents: If we can't reduce the number of different start times, I believe we should look at changing the pairings. I think Hanaford and Eldregde should should start together at 8:40, and Meadowbrook and Frenchtown should start together at 9:20. That would open up opportunities for shared enrichment activities, as well as reduce the "start time shock" the Hanaford students have when they move to Cole. It would also alleviate the before school child care penalty that the Meadowbrook/Hanaford side of town bears for the entire k-5 timeframe. Both the bus and teacher contracts are due to negotiate this year, so now is the time to talk about changing it.

Thanks Elizabeth! Heather, valid points for sure. I think possibly rotating start times on a yearly basis btw the elementary schools would be fair, so everyone shares in the different burdens both an early and a later start time presents. But I guess I should take my thoughts to the school committee!
