Big Band Music, EG Patch Office Hours & More

Five things you need to know about East Greenwich today, Jan. 13.

EG Patch Office Hours: I’ll be at Panera this morning from 8 to 10:30. If you don’t see me at one of the tables, check the counter in the back. That’s a great spot to find a plug!

Big Band concert: Greenwich Bay Manor assisted living complex features live music and refreshments this afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m. If you are interested in attending this free event, call 885-3334.

Home games: Boys Basketball against Middletown at East Greenwich High School. Varsity plays at 7 p.m., junior varsity at 5:15.

Teen Center: The teen center is just what it sounds like — a safe place for teenagers to escape their parents! Bob Houghtaling and a few friends staff the event, held in the gymnasium at Eldredge School. From 6 to 8 p.m.

Basketball tournament starts! This is big, folks, really big. The East Greenwich Basketball Association is holding its second annual Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend Tournament and a whopping 105 teams from around the state are participating. The action begins tonight, with four games at Cole Middle School. Starting tomorrow morning, there will be basketball at Cole, East Greenwich High School and Rocky Hill School, with the championships on Monday. There will be food for sale at the different venues, but if you see some people wondering around on Main Street, looking a little dazed and hungry, please help them find sustenance. Go EGBA!
