Everything You Need To Know About Teens ... And Better Ask

That's the title of a special presentation at Swift tonight aimed at giving parents additional tools for raising their kids.

How do you prevent your child from drinking? ... What do you do if your child starts hanging out with kids who have more permissive parents? ... Isn’t it better to let kids drink at home since we know they will drink?

These are just a few of the questions that will be addressed at Wednesday evening at Swift Community Center.

“As a parent, you have a tremendous amount of influence,” said EG Drug Counselor Bob Houghtaling, who helped put this program together with Sergeant John Carter of the EG Police. “You can model the behavior you want in your home.”

He continued, “I’ve seen some really good parents who’ve been caught unawares. The key is to put yourself in the spot where you’re not afraid to ask for help.”

And, as Houghtaling noted, it’s a whole lot easier to address the issue before it becomes a problem. “If you put some additional tools in your kit, it’s something you can always fall back on if need be,” he said.

Featured speakers for the evening will include Supreme Court Judge Daniel Procaccini as well from community resources and input from the town. From 6:30 to 8 p.m.
