Fire District Meeting Sat. On Moving Station
Chief Henrikson will present his findings at a special morning meeting at New England Tech.
The East Greenwich Fire District will hold a special meeting Saturday at New England Tech so that Chief Peter Henrikson can present his reasons for relocating the Main Street fire station.
As outlined in an earlier article, as development in town has shifted south and west, having a station in what is the northeast corner of town is not time efficient. Especially now with so many of the calls having to do with rescue rather than fire, time can make the difference even more between life and death.
With the possible availability of the state-owned parcel at Post and Cedar roads, Henrikson has said that now could be the time to contemplate at least beginning such a move.
The meeting starts at 10 a.m. Following the presentation, there will be a question-and-answer period. Handouts of the chief's study will also be available.

No, sorry--I meant the move+new building. Will our fire tax or property tax get raised? Also, does the city have a say?
