Five Things: Farmers Market, Snow Watch
Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Dec. 29.
Transfer Station is open: Snow looks to be on the way. If you’ve still got leaf bags hanging around, now’s a good time to get rid of them. The Transfer Station is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Coastal Growers Winter Farmers Market: The Winter Farmers Market in North Kingstown features many vendors from the EG Farmers Market as well as some others. Miss your Tallulah’s Tacos? You can pick some up at the winter market! You can also pick up produce, meat, baked goods and artisan goods. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lafayette Mill at 650 Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown.
Story Hour at Symposium Books: Children (and their adults) are invited to Story Hour at Symposium Books . Every week they pick a new story and read it to the kids with animal crackers and fun. Favorite stories are "No Matter What" and "Jungle Explorer." Come early and help pick the story, and better yet, there is a 10 percent additional discount on everything in the store during story hour! 11:30 a.m.
Trash Pickup: If your regular trash day is Friday, you should be ready for pickup TODAY.
Weather: We may get real snow today, starting as early as late morning. If you have snow pictures to share, upload them here.

I refuse to drag wet soaked bags in my car to the transfer station because the town didnt notify people properly they were done picking up bags..Some trees werent even empty by December..Our neighbord has many streets lined with bags..Guess the snow plowers will just have to go around them

There needs to be some accommodation for the changes in our weather patterns..The first week in December is too soon for the pickup to end. This combined with the transfer station only being available on Saturday s leaves the home owner with a mess! Your taxes at work! Joan

Just got to the farmers' market as they were closing at 1 pm today. What a great one, though. I look forward to going back when I have more time to shop.

The leaf pick up schedule is on the East Greenwich Town website and is published in the local papers in the fall. You can not expect the town to "adjust" its work schedule because mother nature gave us a warm fall! Is your car so special you can not put a few wet bags in the trunk and take a few trips to the transfer station? ...Get real people we may be East Greenwich, but you are not o the Queen of England... DId you actually rake them your self anyway??? Our tax dollars were busy at at work today plowing the streets, fixing roads and getting us ready for winter... "Oh wait...let's go get those leaves that the lazy residents chose to just drag to the street and hope someone else will magically take away" !!!
Just my rant for tonight!!! Happy New Year everyone!

WOW..little hostile about EG residents? Yes, WE raked them, stuffed them into bags AFTER THEY FINISHED FALLING, and dragged them to the curb for the Town to take them away, which is THEIR JOB..We dont think we are the Queen of anything. Our car is NOT so special that we couldnt put nice dry bags in the trunk, but when they have been sitting curbside for a month, and SOAKED on the bottom about to rip, and we have to go to the town to get a sticker, and we work weekends, YES, its inconvenient...And why shouldnt the town adjust the schedule? One more week in December would not have been tough. HUNDREDS of bags are still lining the street all over the town, so maybe people didnt know the schedule was on the Town website. BTW, what does snowplowing YESTERDAY have to do with getting us ready for Winter a month ago when it was still 50 out the first week of Dec ? If you are going to rant, Please make it make sense
