Five Things: 'Imagine' Autism Walk, Chicken Dinner

Autism Walk & Family Fun Day:
The Autism Project is hosting its 11th annual Imagine Walk and Family Fun Day for Autism at Goddard Memorial Park. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk starts at 10 a.m. The walk will be followed by a family fun event with lots of activities for the entire family. April is Autism National Awareness month, please join us and walk an extra mile for a child with autism.

Spring Dinner: The EG Boy's Home Association’s Spring Chicken Dinner is a buffet-style dinner with barbecue, spicy, and regular chicken, baked sweet and white potatoes, spicy spuds, rolls, salad, homemade desserts, and endless coffee and lemonade. Seconds are always on us! At the EG Veteran’s Fireman’s Hall, 80 Queen St., from 5:30 to 7 p.m. $10 for adults, $5 for children.

Town Council meeting: Continuing discussion of the 2014 budget. At Swift Community Center at 7 p.m.

Avenger Home Action: Girls Varsity Fastpitch Softball versus Exeter/WB at 3:30 p.m., Boys Varsity Baseball versus Coventry at 4 p.m., and JV Softball versus Portsmouth at 4 p.m. You can follow all the Avenger action at the EG Booster Club website here.

Fundraiser for Celeste & Sydney: The mother and daughter seriously injured in the Boston Marathon bombings last week, Celeste and Sydney Corcoran, have local ties. Their husband/father is Kevin Corcoran, born and raised in Quidnessett. There is a fundraiser for them Monday at Rok Bar and Grill, starting at 5:30 p.m. You can get tickets ahead of time ($20 each) at Felicia’s Coffee.  

The Switch Energy Project: East Greenwich High School is hosting a viewing of The Switch Energy Project on Monday, April 29, at 7 p.m. Switch focuses on the ways we can make the switch to renewable energy resources. Everyone is welcome to attend. EGHS science students can also receive extra credit from their science teachers if they attend the showing and provide their teachers with the ticket the following day in class.
