Five Things: Veterans Day ... Observed
Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Nov. 12.
Veterans Day (observed): Yesterday was Veterans Day and if you missed the parade, we’ll have video and a story later today. But the government holiday is today, so no school, no trash pickup, no Post Office, no Town Hall. Trash pickup is delayed one day for the rest of the week. Most banks are closed today, but some may be open. If you are a veteran, check out the specials for you available today.
‘The Living Room’ on Thursday: The first performance of “The Living Room” – an evening of storytelling – happens Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Kentish Guard Armory at 8 p.m. Click here to learn more.
2nd Annual Turkey Trot is coming! Last year’s EG Hill and Harbour Turkey Trot was such a success that it’s back – on the Saturday morning after Thanksgiving. It’s a fully sanctioned and certified 5K race in downtown EG. The main event starts at 9 a.m. with a 1-mile fun run at 8:30. Other activities will include crafts, music, and food. Last year, families, individuals, teams, all sorts of people took part, more than 700 runners! You can register here
Post your Events and Announcements on EG Patch: If you have something you’d like to see on the EG Patch calendar, upload it by clicking here and finding the “Add an Event” tab on the right. The Events Calendar is my go-to spot for the daily Five Things column. If you want to be featured in Five Things, make sure you post your items on the calendar! If you have something you’d like to post as an Announcement, you can do that by clicking here. I routinely post Announcements to the EG Patch home page.
