Viva Italia! Super Savings Market: Aldi may be a new name for many of us, but it’s becoming the go-to place for those looking to cut their grocery bills. It’s one German import that’s cheaper than most domestic models. For the uninitiated, Aldi is a smaller-size supermarket that carries some name brands and lots of Aldi brands at substantially lower prices. For instance, this week you can pick up a 4-pound bag of navel oranges for $1.99 and cantaloupes for $1.29. Or you can get a variety of frozen pizzas for $2.29 apiece and a 40-ounce smoked turkey breast for $8.99. The Aldi way is a little different: You must insert a quarter to release a cart. You get a quarter back when you return the cart. Also, they do not bag your items. Instead, you can use a shelf beyond the cashier to organize your purchases in bags you bring or buy there. 

Doll Deals: Dwyer’s Doll House, in the Cowesett Corners plaza, at 300 Quaker Lane in Warwick, is closing shop. That means there are deals to be had. Right now, everything in the store is marked down from 20 percent to 60 percent. The sale began on March 1 and the store will close for good the end of April. So now is the time to pick up that Madame Alexander doll for your niece, or buy a piece of American Girl doll furniture for your daughter. The shop also carries stuffed animals, doll houses and other collectibles.

Bottled H20 Bonanza: Using your own water bottles and filling them with tap water is the cheapest way to go when it comes to bottled water, but sometimes you need to quench the thirst of a crowd. CVS is offering a 24-pack of 16.9 oz. bottles of Nestle Pure Life water for just $2.66 (with a CVS card). Encourage users to recycle those bottles. It saves money for the town if the plastic is recycled instead of added to the regular trash. The town pays by the pound for pickup and disposal, so every bit we can divert translates to lower tipping fees.
