Giarrusso Wins GOP State House Dist. 30 Primary
Anthony Giarrusso beat Emil Fachon and Bob Bolton.
Anthony Giarrusso won the Republican primary for the state House Dist. 30 seat with 353 votes Tuesday, Sept. 11. He will face Democrat Mark Schwager and independent Kevin McDonough in the general election Nov. 6.
The race featured three candidates. In addition to Giarrusso, Emil Fachon got 232 votes, and Bob Bolton got 178.
Democrat Schwager got 452 votes. (Because McDonough is an independent candidate, his name did not appear on the primary ballot.)
The House Dist. 30 seat has been held by Rep. Bob Watson, a Republican, since 1992. Watson announced his retirement in June.
"It's a great honor for me," said Giarrusso Tuesday night. Going into the general election, Giarrusso said, "we have a very strong network."
He said his pro-business message will play well with voters. "They know that the state really needs some business representation."

Congratulations to Mr. Giarrusso on his Republican Primary victory. My compliments to the other two candidates as well. I attended the Republican debate and found all three candidates well versed on the issues. East Greenwich is fortunate to have such an excellent selection from which to choose their next State Representative. Sincerely, Kevin McDonough
