Priscilla Rigg never meant to lead a bell choir. The long-time music director at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in East Greenwich wasn't interested, she says now with a laugh. But fate - and some persistent bell choir supporters - intervened two decades ago.

Today, she directs the Jubilate Ringers, a group comprised of members from a number of churches in the area. In addition to St. Luke's, there are members from First Evangelical Lutheran in EG, Peacedale Congregational in Wakefield, Methodist Church in North Kingstown, Free Baptist Church in Pascoag, and St. John's in Saunderstown. They rehearse every Monday morning.

Over the years, their fame has spread. They perform frequently everywhere from other churches to nursing homes to community events. On Sunday (Dec. 18), the group performs with the choirs of St. Luke's in a free Christmas concert. It begins at 4 p.m. in the church and is open to all. They will be collecting nonperishable foods for the local food pantry.
