Main Street Assoc. Unveils New Logo

Dana Gee's design garners the most votes in logo contest.

Following its announcement on February 18 for a contest to design a logo for its new non-profit organization, the Main Street Association received approximately 20 logo submissions for consideration. At its meeting on March 13, eight MSA members conducted a “blind judging.”

In the end, Dana Gee of SPOT Design, Inc., East Greenwich, submitted the logo with the most votes.

“The MSA received a number of strong entries,” said Doug Truesdell, president of the MSA. “We liked the simplicity of the design, as well as the fact that it’s a very recognizable element of our Main Street.”

Dana Gee has run her own design firm for 25 years. An '82 graduate of Harvard University in art, with an '88 Masters from Boston University’s College of Communication, she has taught at BU and RISD College of Continuing Education. Career highlights include the original Food Network logo / media launch and the RI Plum Beach Lighthouse license plate design that has raised over $100,000 for lighthouse’s upkeep.
