Main Street Coffee Crew Plans Fundraiser For Fire Victim
Friends plan event for Don Lynch.
Before his home on Ayrault Road was destroyed in a fire February 8, Don Lynch was a regular at Main Street Coffee, stopping in every morning.
When coffee shop employees Jamie Landolfi and Jackie Cole heard about what happened they decided they had to do something to give him a hand and have organized a fund raiser for Monday, March 21 from 5:30 to 8:30 at the Varnum Armory.
A poster on the counter of the coffee shop and martini bar invites patrons to purchase $35.00 tickets to benefit their long time friend.
An Italian buffet is being donated by Angelina’s Italian Deli and Main Street Coffee is donating desserts and coffee.
Dale Dejoy, another Main Street Coffee regular is putting together a group of musicians to entertain and other Main Street businesses have donated gifts for prizes and a silent auction.
Lynch’s house caught fire on one of the coldest and windiest nights of the winter. East Greenwich and North Kingstown fire fighters were forced to evacuate the home when the floor started to give way and it took them over four hours to extinguish all the flames.
After the fire, East Greenwich Chief Peter Henrikson said it was one of the toughest fires for the department in a long time.
Landolfi and Cole say Lynch no longer comes in every day, but still shows up on occasion.
