Mark, Gifford, Quinn Win Democratic School Committee Primary
A total of 1,057 votes were cast in Tuesday's primary.
Carolyn Mark, Deidre Gifford, and Eugene Quinn were the top three vote-getters in Tuesday's Democratic primary for East Greenwich School Committee, earning places on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.
Mark, a newcomer, was the top vote-getter, with 405 votes. School Committee Chairwoman Deidre Gifford got 388 votes, and Eugene Quinn, also a newcomer, got 293 votes. All three were endorsed by the EG Democratic Town Committee.
Brian Warburton, a first-time candidate, got 219 votes.
The three Democrats will face Republican Clark Smith and independent candidate Domenic Marcone in November.
Gifford was the only incumbent running for re-election. Bob Durant did not run again and Paul Martin, after initially submitting papers to run, did not turn in the needed 50 signatures to earn a place on the ballot.

Completely discouraged and depressed at the low voter turn-out. I was at Cole Middle school at 7 pm and was voter 228!! Really, people, you must get involved and vote!
