Obituary: Conrad G. Swanson, Sr., 87

Mr. Swanson was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

 


Conrad G. Swanson, Sr., 87, a long-time resident of East Greenwich, died on November 19. He was the husband of the late Pauline A. Swanson. Born in East Providence, he is the son of Sakeus and Anna (Nelson) Swanson.

Mr. Swanson was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Brown University class of 1949 and spent a majority of his professional career as a Fire Prevention Engineer with Allendale Insurance Company, now FM Global, Inc. Mr.

Swanson was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for over 50 years. He is survived by his children, Carol S. Drought and her husband, John, of Coventry; Richard P. Swanson and his wife, Susan, of East Greenwich; Lynette J. Swanson and her husband Rory Gilbert of Northbrook, Ill.; Deane A. Swanson and his wife Kathleen of Glastonbury, Conn.; and Conrad G. Swanson, Jr., and his wife Kelly of East Greenwich.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Lily Jackson, Erin and Georgia Drought, Aidan and Corey Gilbert, and Katie and Conrad G. Swanson III. He was the brother of Beatrice Pederson of Simi Valley, Calif., and the late Paul Swanson and Eleanor Aiken. A Requiem Eucharist was celebrated Saturday, Nov. 24 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
