Rally For Beisel To Be Held Wednesday

WJAR is planning a homecoming rally in North Kingstown for Elizabeth Beisel.

Rhode Island will welcome home its biggest star of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London this Wednesday. WJAR-TV (Channel 10) is organizing a homecoming rally for North Kingstown native Elizabeth Beisel on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. at North Kingstown High School.

According to NK School Superintendent Phil Auger, the rally will be held on the athletic field at the high school. Those planning to attend the event are encouraged to wear their Team Beisel T-shirts and to bring signs.

Beisel, a 2010 graduate of North Kingstown High School, is returning home to Rhode Island after competing in her second Olympics at the age of 19. During the 2008 Olympics, she was the youngest member of the US Swim Team at 15 years old.

Beisel is coming home with two medals – a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley and a bronze medal in the 200-meter backstroke.

North Kingstown High School is located at 150 Fairway Drive in North Kingstown.
