Readers’ Choice: Best Park In East Greenwich

Where do you want to take the kids, or a blanket, when the days begin to lengthen?

As the weather gets warmer and the daylight hours extend, it's tempting to want to spend most of your time outdoors. Because really, what's nicer than a picnic or frisbee toss at one of our many local parks, or an afternoon with the kids at one of our playgrounds?

With the official start of spring on Tuesday, we want to know: what's your favorite outdoor space in EG?

Is it the playground behind Hanaford School? Shovlin Park? Academy Field? Or ...

Vote in our poll and share your thoughts in the comments section below. If we left your favorite park or playground off the list, note that in the comments as well.

If your favorite green space is in North Kingstown, go here to vote in the NK Patch poll.

We'll leave the poll up all week then close voting at 9 a.m. Friday. At noon that day, we'll share your top local pick. Then be sure to watch the site over the weekend when we tally up the top votes and announce the park that got the most rave reviews across all of our Rhode Island sites.

Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. For full details on our rules, see the attached PDF. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

This is a tough call. I'm torn between Frenchtown Park and Academy Field. Frenchtown is a place of quiet beauty providing some.wonderful vistas; solace to be "away". On the other hand, Academy Field in my mind is the closest thing we have to a village green. I've see everything on the field from Kentish Guards musters to youth soccer and little league games to spring golfers practicing their chip shots - a nice family oriented space.

Most of you probably have probably not been to Scalloptown Park so you don't know about it's beauty the year round. There is no playground equipment there but you will
see the cove and different species of birds. It is a great place to go for a walk as the paths have been greatly improved. It is my choice for best park. My second choice would be Frenchtown Park. Hopefully dog owners will learn to pick up after their dogs in all of the parks in EG.
