Rodney Bailey, Superstar
Sometimes the best story in town is sitting right under your nose. Thanks, Mark Patinkin!
I didn't see the Sunday Projo until Monday – but then there it was, Mark Patinkin's great story on EG's own Rodney Bailey, with absolutely gorgeous photos from Sandor Bodo.
Bailey owns a farm on South County Trail with his wife, former Town Councilor (and sometime EG Patch commentor!) Judy Bailey. He's one of Rhode Island's last dairy farmers and the only one left in East Greenwich.
He is a town, and state, treasure. And now everyone knows. Anyway, I thought our readers should get a chance to read Patinkin's piece and see Bodo's photos, so here's the link.
Congratulations Rodney and Judy – you do EG proud!

What a wonderful article, thank you Baileys for carrying on a tradition. My father grew up a dairy farmer in Northeast Ohio on a small family farm, and we love hearing his stories of the farm-- so real and straightforward a life. Hoping your farm can continue another generation.

Belatedly, let me add my comment of what a wonderful tribute to a great guy and, as already stated, and to the great lady who shares his life.
Reminiscing, I wonder if he recalls getting accidentally locked in a jail cell (remember. it used to be a courthouse)at the new Town Hall when it was first opened. EGFD succeeded in opening the cell whereas I failed in my attempt to do so.
May the Baileys have many more years of happiness and health !
'nuff said!

Thanks for the kind words,Carl. Yes, Rodney certainly recalls his two hour imprisonment in the courthouse jail! He has never been allowed to forget it.
