Runners, Whalers, Bingo and A Song

Follow the action of six East Greenwich runners in the Boston Marathon, or make a little action of your own, playing Bingo or making some music.

It's April Break! And the weather is almost cooperating. Today looks to be sunny into the afternoon before showers move in, so make the most of your outdoor plans early.

Boston Marathon locals: The first wave of 115th Boston Marathon gets under way at 10am today, in Hopkinton, Mass. Of the more than 27,000 runners who are registered to participate, at least six call East Greenwich home.

Feeling Lucky? It’s the weekly Bingo game at Swift Community Center. Check out the action at 1pm.

History Takes A Meeting: Robert Kinny from the URI Graduate School of Oceanography will present “The History of Whaling and Its Presence in East Greenwich” at the monthly meeting of the East Greenwich Historic Preservation Society. There is a potluck supper starting at 6:30 with the presentation at 7:30. Open to the public, the meeting is at 110 King Street. Call Sue Curado (884-4643) to reserve a space.

Open Mic Night: It’s Monday night, so it must be jam night at the Greenwich Hotel Lounge. The action begins at 7 - all you need is an instrument and a bit of chutzpah.

Heather, try this link: http://raceday.baa.org/searchable-results.html
You will probably have to enter the town and state, but then the results appear! There were five who finished and Patrick Meacham finished fastest: 3:03:49.
