Schwager Names Campaign Chair

Meghan Lenihan, daughter of former Sen. Michael Lenihan, will direct Democrat Mark Schwager's run for Dist. 30 state rep seat now held by Bob Watson.

Dr. Mark Schwager, candidate for Rhode Island House of Representatives, District 30, has named Meghan Lenihan as his campaign chair.

“I’m delighted that Meghan has agreed to direct my campaign. Her energy and experience will be a tremendous help in my run for the state house, getting out my message of fiscal stability, affordable healthcare and quality education,” said Schwager, who announced his candidacy last October.

Lenihan, a lifelong resident of East Greenwich, is the daughter of former State Senator J. Michael Lenihan, who represented East Greenwich, North Kingstown and Warwick in the legislature for 20 years before retiring in 2010.

Lenihan has been involved in politics since before she was old enough to stuff envelopes for her father’s campaign for EG Town Council in 1972. She has been involved in numerous campaigns since that time at the local and state level. In addition to her involvement, Lenihan, a graduate of Rhode Island Collage, has been active in numerous community groups including the PTG  for OLM school, Girl Scouts, a local Mothers Group, and McAuley House Ministries.

Lenihan is eager to get to work: “Dr. Schwager is the type of person we need to work on the issues that affect our community directly. He is motivated and eager to get started and it’s a pleasure to work for someone so enthusiastic to rebuild ideas, reform issues, and solve local problems facing our community. Over the upcoming months I will be out in the community, organizing many social events like local meet & greets, coffee hours, family fun day, senior wellness day and more. I will also be working with the media, meeting with senior groups, knocking on doors and recruiting volunteers to work on the campaign.”

Should be an easy win for Schwager.
