State Closes Goddard Park Beach To Swimming

The Department of Health said the closure is due to high bacteria counts.

Following days of rain, sometimes heavy, the state Department of Health has closed the beach at Goddard Memorial State Park to swimming.

It also prohibited swimming at Bristol Town Beach, Third Beach and King Park Beach, to swimming due to high bacteria counts. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the areas are safe for swimming. Water quality analysis is conducted by the department's laboratory or a state-certified laboratory.
