There's scary, and there's SCARY. Trick-or-treating without light of any kind (street lights, house lights, etc.) may be a bit much. So those residents without power are wondering what to do?
One idea is to travel to a neighborhood with power (I live on the Hill and I'm heading out to buy extra candy just in case ...). Another is to postpone Halloween for a day or two or three.
Gov. Lincoln Chafee issued a press release encouraging caution tonight.
"Our state is still dealing with the effects of Hurricane Sandy. These include extensive damage to roadways and sidewalks, fallen trees, downed power lines, and widespread power outages. Anyone out – whether driving or on foot – in areas with debris and without power must exercise extreme caution and vigilance."
What do you think – should everything proceed as usual or should we postpone Halloween until power's restored?

How about if neighbors light up the streets with candles, jack-o-lanterns, and bag lights. This might bring some fun out of a not so fun situation.

Westwood Drive and the neighborhoods between Cole and Hanaford have power feel free to trick or treat there :)

they should re-schedule to the weekend. It's a no brainer with 1/2 the town still in the dark. we don't want our kids getting struck by cars or hanging lines which have not been discovered yet.

I agree FatMan. I've got enough on my hands with no power and would love to welcome trick-or-treaters next week.

Too late to call if off. Trick or treating is under way and I have already had at least 50 and it is still early. Got my lights back today.
