8 EG Runners Confirmed OK After Bombs Explode At Boston Marathon

So far, Krista Jarrell, Julie Oh, Mark Schwager, Rick and Leigh Del Sesto, Evie Janson, Lisa Meenan, and Anna Greeley have been heard from.

East Greenwich resident Krista Jarrell already had finished the Boston Marathon and was no longer in the finish area when the bombs exploded Monday, she said via email. Two people are reported dead and dozens injured from the blasts, which took place just before the finish line at 2:50 p.m.

Jarrell said she had heard from Julie Oh, another EG runner, that she was also all right but that the blasts had taken place in front of her. Mark Schwager is also ok, according to Facebook reports.

There is no word yet on the other seven Boston Marathon participants from East Greenwich. EG Patch ran . Update 6:14 p.m.: Lisa Meenan and Rick and Leigh Del Sesto have been heard from – they are OK. Update 6:42 p.m.: Evie Jansen is OK. Update 11:42 p.m.: Anna Greeley emailed to say she was fine.

Oh, whose final time is not available on the Boston Athletic Association website presumably because she finished after the explosions, was still downtown, according to Jarrell.

"Julie saw the bomb go off in front of her," Jarrell wrote. "She is stuck in Boston – she is very shaken up."

Jean Ann Guliano posted this on Facebook about Schwager and his wife: "Just got word from Patricia Flanagan that she and Mark Schwager are OK. Mark was running the Boston Marathon and Patti watching. Mark had passed the 40K mark at 02:59:58PM."

Update 6:33 p.m.: Julie Oh, via email (ellipses added): "Still in shock ... I am ok ... was crying a lot ... was running into the finish line ... saw 2 bombs go off ... a few runners in front of me flew into the air. Have been walking all over Boston trying to get home ... a gal found Leigh Del Sesto crying ... she had her CIA boyfriend drive us out of the area. I am drained ... talk to you later. Thank god we are all fine!
