Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

What Are You Thankful For?

First, my list. Then, add your own.

What this EG Patch Editor is thankful for in 2012...

I'm thankful I have a job that keeps me interested, connected, stimulated, happy.

I'm thankful for everyone who gets the EG Patch newsletter in their email mailbox and clicks onto the site to see what's happening in East Greenwich.

I'm thankful for all the people who tell me I got something wrong. It doesn't always feel great at the time, but it shows me you're reading and you care.

I'm thankful for the people who tell me they love EG Patch – your praise gives me energy to keep doing this job!

I'm thankful for Greenwich Cove, the sight of which always makes me feel right with the world.

I'm thankful for Elaine, Janice, Leigh, Elaine, Audrey and Mary, Lisa, Leah, and Juliana, and all the other town employees who have no good reason to be so nice to me but are anyway!

I'm thankful for all the fun people I've met since reporting for EG Patch (and my02818) – both the "oldtimers" and those people who just arrived. It's fun to hear the old stories and to experience the new excitement.

I'm thankful for all those who volunteer their time to make East Greenwich a better place. In particular, I'm thinking about all the members of appointed boards, our elected officials (who work crazy hard and usually get grief for it – from me before anyone!) and the folks on the Main Street Association.

I'm thankful for Paige, Alice, Mikayla, Andrew, Divya, and Rachel – all EGHS students who write (or have written) for EG Patch. You guys are amazing!

I'm thankful for all the people who have blogged for EG Patch in the year and a half since we added bloggers, especially John, Kim, Mike, Sharon, Mark, Matt and Karen. I'm always on the lookout for new bloggers, by the way, so don't be shy!

I'm thankful that three and a half years ago, I sat down with Bob Plain, the then-editor of my02818.com (which became East Greenwich Patch) and he convinced me to become a community journalist.

I'm thankful that Chuck Newton and Nancy Merrill put their heart, soul and cash into my02818.com, making a great website that lives on differently, but not so different, I think, than their original intent.

I'm thankful – so very thankful – for my husband and children, who have allowed me to throw myself into this job even during dinner, during car rides, during vacations.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. May your travels go smoothly and your turkey be moist!

What are you thankful for this year? Please let us know in the comments section below. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for:
My beautiful daughters who teach me so much by their example.
My church community - Westminster Unitarian Church.
My awesome dog who gets me out of bed in the morning and makes me get out and exercise.
My own can-do spirit and optimism.
Friends who have taught me the gift of hope.
A warm home in our new town of EG.

Elizabeth,
The old saying, "It's not a job if you love what you are doing.” holds. You do a terrific, tireless job for this town and I am grateful for your dedication to EG. I see you chasing parades, filming countless town meetings, and to top it off (literally), shooting the End of Summer Concert on Eldredge School's very high roof. Bravo!

Although she died 7 years ago, I'm grateful we were able to (just) make it to our 50th anniversary.
I'm grateful for my 3 wonderful daughters and son, 11 grandchildren and a great grand-daughter.
I'm grateful for having chosen to live here (45 years ago) in this wonderful, well run town as well as having had an opportunity to serve on the School Committee and Town Council.
I'm grateful for my church and my faith.
Although I've had more than my share of operations, I'm grateful for all of the excellent medical people who have kept me going and continue to do so.
I'm grateful; for my life and, most of all, I'm grateful and proud, as first generation American, to be a citizen in the United States.
And finally, I'm grateful for all my friends as well as having met a wonderful woman who, while she will never replace my wife, is a joy to be with.

I am thankful for my family who make me laugh and cry and then laugh again.
I am thankful for all the opportunities I have to be a better wife, mom, volunteer, educator, neighbor and friend.
I am thankful for all the ways to be engaged and creative in the local school and communities.
And I am thankful for EG Patch for being informative, for allowing me to blog and especially Elizabeth's daily "Five Things" announcements (thanks for the heads up tonight about the new Orange Leaf FroYo...yum and so I am thankful for their Brownie Batter flavor with 1 gram of fat per ounce).
