Zoning, Land Trust Meetings, And A Visit From Sen. Whitehouse
Five things you need to know about East Greenwich today, Sept. 27
Zoning Board of Review meeting: Tonight’s agenda includes an application by DiMare Seafood on South County Trail for variances for increased indoor seating and construction of an front deck and a special use permit for Christ Church. The meeting will be held in Town Council Chambers at Town Hall, starting at 7 p.m. (Agenda is attached at right.)
Land Trust meeting: Maintenance and the lease for Boesch Farm dominate tonight’s agenda. The South Road property is owned by the Land Trust and members recently voted to award the lease of the property to Pat McNiff, of Pat’s Pastured. Particulars of that lease arrangement are now under discussion. In addition, McNiff will update Land Trust members on the state of various projects at the farm, including new storm windows, painting and porch repair. The meeting will take place in a conference room in Town Hall, starting at 7 p.m. with an executive (i.e. closed) session. (Agenda is attached at right.)
Sen. Whitehouse Outreach Session: The staff of U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) will hold a community outreach event at E.G. Free Library to help local residents navigate the red tape of government agencies. It starts at 4 p.m., is free and all are welcome.
EG Art Club Showcase: SpringHill Suites will host a one-night showcase featuring local artists from the East Greenwich Art Club. Complimentary refreshments will be served. Open to the public. 14 James P Murphy Ind Hwy, West Warwick (just over the EG line off Bald Hill Road).
Eldredge Elementary Open House: If you have a student at Eldredge, the school’s annual open house - an opportunity to learn more about your child’s class and teacher - takes place tonight starting at 7 p.m.

I just want to thank all my neighbors that showed up to the town meeting for the dimensional variances asked by DiMare Seafood. It was another step in the right direction to take our neighborhood back to what it was: a nice and quiet residential area, when our kids could ride their bikes without the risk of being run over by the many cars trying to park on Sleep Hollow Road on their way to DiMare restaurant. We appreciate the fact that everybody needs to make a living but if that gets on the way of our kid's freedom to play outside, than DiMare will have to make other arrangements. We want our peace back and a yard without empty beer bottles and cans. We deserve more respect than that. That's all we are asking for.

We love and support DiMare- what a fantastic place! We live in this neighborhood and the family that owns DiMare has only turned a diesel smelling, dirt parking, rusted cinderblock building into an attractive neighborhood bistro where I enjoy meeting all of my friends. I am glad they are seeking relief for parking options in order to expand as this economy needs that- I wonder why they are picked on directly when there is another bar within feet of their establishment? Who is to say what cars are parking on the entrance to our neighborhood? We must find other options other than squashing people's lives to rectify the situation if some cars are on the road at night, wouldn't you say? I feel the neighborhood should work together to make everyone happy and encourage business growth; especially those that support our economy. My kids are never encouraged to ride their bikes close to Rt 2... Support local business and be positive!

DiMare "an attractive bistro"? I am not sure what's attractive about people smoking near a dumpster, trowing empty beer bottles into our yards, loud music until 11, nasty greasy food... Some people need to go out more often.
