An editor's take on covering her hometown. The email writer was distraught. He had heard that notice of his arrest was listed in the Police Log, but he was adamant that that he had not been arrested. I checked the log, which had been posted just hours earlier. Indeed, the unhappy emailer was listed as having been “arrested” by the police after being stopped for speeding. The police had run his license, found that it was expired and issued him a summons as well as had his car towed. The police classify this violation as an arrest, as opposed to their two other classifications: offenses and accidents. But is an expired license really …
The heat in the comment stream on the EG Little League majors baseball championship game two weeks ago took me by surprise. The Phillies were the returning champs for the third year in a row. This comes after acting as substitute editor since founding editor Bob Plain left to blog on statewide issues for WPRO at the end of April.I have big shoes to fill. Bob Plain brought online news and information to East Greenwich with my02818.com. I was fortunate enough to jump on that train a couple months after it launched, so I know the hard work and creativity that it took to get it this far. My02818 merged with Patch last fall, and East Greenwich Patch began. So, I’ve inherited a website - keeping it going should…
