A look at today's featured event in East Greenwich.FEMA and the FCC will conduct the first national test of the Nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) today at 2 p.m. The system test is the first of its kind designed to broadcast a nationwide message to the American public. The three-minute test will run concurrently on all radio and TV band stations. FEMA officials noted it is only a test, even if the test message on TV does not indicate that it is just a test. Support theatre in our schools at East Greenwich High School, 300 Avenger Drive tonight at 7 as the high school drama club presents its annual Cabaret. Cabaret is EGHS's annual drama club fundraiser, put on in preperation of the winter musical. The show is full of musical theatre acts from numerous students participating in the program. Tickets are $10 each which includes the show and complimentary refreshments.

The East Greenwich Cowesett New Neighbors Club is a not-for-profit social organization whose purpose is to aid new residents in becoming acquainted with the community and to help foster new friendships. The East Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department's summer concert series continues tonight at 6:30 with the "Jennifer Minuto Group," playing jazz, pop and R&B, at Academy Field, 50 Rector St. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and take in a free show on a warm summer night. In case of rain, the concert will take place in the Swift Gym. All concerts are free and open to all. The summer concert season wraps up next week with "Avenue A," a swing, dixie and jazz band.
