Bowl For A Good Cause Tonight

Recycles and yard waste get picked up this week: Just a reminder – this week we need to put both trash AND recycle containers curbside, and yard waste too. (Yard waste will be picked up every week in November.)

School Committee meeting: The panel meets in the library at Cole Middle School at 7 p.m.

Bowl-a-Thon Benefit: EGHS senior Haley O’Connor is holding a Bowl-a-Thon at Kingston Bowl from 7 to 10 p.m. to raise money for the Tori Lynn Andreozzi Foundation. Tori was hit by a drunk driver in 2003 on her way to school. The foundation works with several national and local organizations and programs to advance its cause, such as MADD, SADD, Youth in Action, and the Traffic Safety Coalition of Rhode Island, among others. You can find out more about the foundation here. Haley is doing the fundraiser as part of her senior project. Whether you want to bowl or just support a great cause, $10 gets you in.

EG Art Club meeting: The East Greenwich Art Club meets Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the EG First Baptist Church, 30 Peirce Street. This month’s Guest Artist is Kathy Martino, an Pawtuxet Village award-winning artist. Kathy has began stenciling, marbleizing, faux finishing years ago then began to paint home portraits and landscapes. Her website is www.kathymartino.com. “Tech Nite” Open House: New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) will hold its “Tech Nite” Open House at the East Greenwich Campus on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m.

Veterans Affairs Aid Workshop: Greenwich Bay Retirement Living is hosting an educational workshop conducted by Scott Grande of Veterans Financial, about this VA benefit at 3 p.m. The event will take place at Greenwich Bay, 945 Main St. It is free and open to the public.

Affordable Housing Commission meeting: The panel meets at Town Hall at 3 p.m.

Cove Commission meeting: The panel meets at Town Hall at 4:30 p.m. On the agenda is a discussion with Greenwich Cove Marina’s owner and a review of his property survey and CRMC’s Adopt an Access Program. You’ll find the agenda here.

Planning Board meeting: On the agenda is review of a master plan application for “Frenchtown Place,” a 10-lot residential cluster subdivision on Frenchtown Road. At 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall.

ONEsdays with The Lost Arts: Local band The Lost Arts is playing Wednesday nights at the Greenwich Hotel, playing great music and bringing awareness to the One Campaign to eliminate extreme poverty and preventable disease. EG Food Cupboard needs donations: People are hungry all year round, Chris and Steve Bartlett of the Food Cupboard remind us. Items especially needed are jars of jelly, baked beans, canned fruit, tuna, peanut butter, and cereals. The food cupboard is housed at St. Luke’s Church. You can leave food there during normal business hours.
