'It Can Wait' at EGHS: State Attorney General Kilmartin will be at EGHS this morning talking with sophomores about the dangers of texting and driving. At the end of the assembly, students will be invited to sign the “don’t text and drive” pledge. Not a bad thing for all of us to keep in mind….

Looking for a few good Boy Scouts: Troop 1 East Greenwich is looking for new Boy Scouts, and Cub Scouts who are transitioning upward. The high-adventure, Scout-led troop has produced hundreds of Eagle Scouts. Dare to Educate Afghan Girls: Shabana Basij Rasikh, co-founder of the School of Leadership Afghanistan (SOLA), a boarding school that provides educational opportunities for a new generation of Afghan women, will speak at Salve Regina in Newport Wednesday evening. During college, Shabana founded HELA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Afghan women through education. She currently serves as the National Gender Mainstreaming Advisor at the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Kabul. 7 p.m. at the Bazarsky Lecture Hall. Free.
