Five Things: Competing Town, School Meetings

Town Council meeting: The council is meeting at Town Hall at 7 p.m. You’ll find the agenda here.

School Committee meeting: On the agenda is an update on the work being done on Meadowbrook Farms. In the library at Cole Middle School at 7 p.m. You’ll find the agenda here.

Trash pickup delayed: Because of the Victory Day holiday yesterday, trash pickup is delayed a day all week, so if your trash is usually picked up on Tuesdays, it will be picked up on Wednesday this week.

Phoebe Madden @ The Towers: Take a drive down to Narragansett to catch local singer Phoebe Madden performing Broadway show tunes at the Towers, with special guest Ritchee Price. 8 p.m.

Photo workshop: This is a slide presentation by Eileen McCarney Muldoon and Cindy Horovitz Wilson. They explore the wonders of travel photography as experienced through their Profundo Journeys workshops. Visit Cuba, Ireland, Greece, Italy and Hungary through the eyes of the instructors and participants. For over 16 years, they have been photographing together for the pure sake of art. This presentation is free and open to the public. Wickford Art Association, 36 Beach Street. 7 p.m.

Brown Bag Concert @ Town Hall: The music returns today at lunchtime with the Ken Vario Quartet Bring your lunch and enjoy the open-air concert.

Parks & Rec's fall program guide is out: The EG Parks & Recreation Department recently announced its 2013 Fall programs. Registration begins Aug. 26 for all forms in hand. Forms should be delivered prior to this date and will be placed in a box to be drawn lottery style on Aug. 26. Session one begins Sept. 3 and session two begins Oct. 28. A copy of the flyer is available on line at www.eastgreenwichri.com and can also be picked up at the East Greenwich Free Library, Town Hall and the East Greenwich Parks & Recreation office. For additional information, contact Parks & Recreation at 886-8626, ext. 1. Most classes have a limited enrollment, so early registration is suggested.
