New recycling bins delivered THIS week: Starting today, the Public Works Dept. will be dropping off the new, blue 96-gallon recycle bins for you to use every other week. You should put your recycling on the curb as usual this week. Pickup under the new system (i.e. automated trucks) begins the week of Sept. 23. If you want to get rid of your old containers after this week, you can drop them at the EG Highway Garage on Bear Swamp Road off Frenchtown Road on Saturday, Sept. 28, and Saturday, Oct. 19, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Goddard Park Farmers Market: The market at Goddard Park is back. It’s a great way to get ready for the weekend. Off Ives Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

EGHS Best Buddies: Any East Greenwich High School student interested in joining the school's chapter of Best Buddies should attend a brief informational meeting immediately after school on Friday in the school cafeteria. You can learn more about Best Buddies here.

Avenger Home Action: The Girls Tennis against Mt. St. Charles at 3:30 p.m. Boys Soccer team plays Classical at 4 p.m. (varsity) and 6 p.m. (JV). The Football team plays its season opener at 7 p.m. against Exeter/West Greenwich. For all the EGHS Avenger action, check out the Booster Club’s website here.

Teen Center: The Teen Center has provided a great place to hang out on Friday evenings for decades now. They meet at the gym at Eldredge School but you don’t have to play basketball to enjoy the camaraderie. From 6 to 8 p.m.
