Teen Center: The Teen Center has provided a great place to hang out on Friday evenings for decades now. They meet at the gym at Eldredge School but you don’t have to play basketball to enjoy the camaraderie. From 6 to 8 p.m.
Trash pickup delayed: Because of the Victory Day holiday yesterday, trash pickup is delayed a day all week, so if your trash is usually picked up on Friday, it will be picked up on Saturday this week.
Parks & Rec fall program guide is out: The EG Parks & Recreation Department recently announced its 2013 Fall programs. Registration begins Aug. 26 for all forms in hand. Forms should be delivered prior to this date and will be placed in a box to be drawn lottery style on Aug. 26. Session one begins Sept. 3 and session two begins Oct. 28. A copy of the flyer is available on line at www.eastgreenwichri.com and can also be picked up at the East Greenwich Free Library, Town Hall and the East Greenwich Parks & Recreation office. And …Welcome to the world, Jake! Kelly Colgan, owner of the Silver Spoon Bakery, and her husband, Scott Santos, have a new baby, Jake, born Friday, Aug. 9. Jake, who was 7 pounds, 7 ounces at birth, is “the best thing we ever baked in our oven!” Kelly said via email. “We are so blessed and feel so loved.” All you cupcake lovers out there … fear not, the shop remains open.
