Hodgson To Announce Run For AG

EG Sen. Hodgson to announce AG run: The state senator for most of East Greenwich, Republican Dawson Hodgson of North Kingstown, is announcing he's running for Attorney General this morning at the State House at 10:30. We'll post more about this later today. 

Literary Book Club: The East Greenwich Literary Book Club, a diverse group of adults with a love of classical literature, contemporary fiction and non-fiction, invites like-minded men and women to join our literary discussion group at the East Greenwich Public Library, 11:30 a.m., second Tuesday of every month.  Our first meeting of 2014 is Tuesday, January 14, when we will discuss poetry.  All are welcome to bring a favorite selection to read and discuss. Raising Wild Babies: The Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of Rhode Island (WRARI) seeks volunteers to help with raising healthy, orphaned wild birds and animals. You can learn how at wildlife rehabilitation classes Jan. 14-15, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the East Greenwich Library. The class is required by state regulation for licensing and will cover the proper way to raise orphaned baby squirrels, eastern cottontail rabbits, opossum and songbirds. It is the first step toward receiving a state permit.

Sochi Olympics fundraiser: EG resident and massage therapist Lou Ann Botsford has been invited to accompany the U.S. ski jumping team to the Sochi Olympics but must pay her way. Join an fun and challenging Pilates class and the $30 admission will go toward Botsford’s travel expenses. Christmas tree curbside collection & recyclables: This is the last week the town will collect your tree and recycle it. Just make sure your tree is bare – no ornaments, tinsel, metal or wires – and NOT in a plastic bag. If you’ve used a bag to get your tree out of your house neatly, just make sure to pull it off. Also, this is a recycle week – pull those big blue toters to the curb. For more information, check out the town’s DPW website here.
