New Recycle Pickup Schedule continues this week: If your trash is picked up today, you should put your big new blue recycle container out too. Restaurant Week continues: Nearly 30 restaurants are participating in the 2nd Annual East Greenwich Restaurant Week – which is actually 10 days, through Sept. 29. The restaurants will be featuring specials and some discounts. You can learn more here.
EG Free Library closed all day: The library will be closed on Friday, Sept. 27, for staff training.
School Technology Advisory Committee meeting: The panel meets at 7:30 a.m. in the Superintendent’s Conference Room, 111 Peirce Street.
Goddard Park Farmers Market: The market at Goddard Park is back. It’s a great way to get ready for the weekend. Off Ives Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Teen Center: The Teen Center has provided a great place to hang out on Friday evenings for decades now. They meet at the gym at Eldredge School but you don’t have to play basketball to enjoy the camaraderie. From 6 to 8 p.m.
Avenger Home Action: The Girls Field Hockey team plays Barrington, JV at 3:45 and Varsity at 4:45 p.m. Varsity Football takes on Tiverton tonight at 7 p.m. For all the EGHS Avenger action, check out the Booster Club’s website here.

Friends of Ron Stabile concert: A free concert featuring many students, friends and colleagues of Ron Stabile from his many years as a teacher and performer takes place Saturday at 8 p.m. at URI. Donations will be accepted to help raise money for the Ron Stabile Scholarship at URI.
On Sunday …Hound Hike: The biggest fundraiser of the year for the EG Animal Protection League takes place Sunday at Goddard Park at noon. You can find out more here.
Gary Burton in concert: A jazz concert featuring star jazz vibraphonist and jazz fusion master Gary Burton, to benefit the Ron Stabile Percussion Scholarship, takes place Sunday at 3 p.m. at URI. Don't miss this chance to hear Burton, whose memoir about the jazz scene in the 60's and 70's has just been published. Held in the URI Fine Arts Center Concert Hall. Assigned seating ticket prices $45, $35, $25. Tickets are on sale through our website (credit card only) or at the door as available (check or cash only).
