Recycles and yard waste get picked up this week: Just a reminder – this week we need to put both trash AND recycle containers curbside, and yard waste too. (Yard waste will continue through December.)

‘Tis the Season Trunk Show at David-Max: 'Tis the Season' Trunk Show at David-Max. Enjoy an appetizer, provided by The Grille on Main, and a glass of wine while shopping for the holidays. We will be featuring the following designers: Aura Handcrafted Jewelry, Kilim East (shoes for men and woman as well as hand bags, back packs, wallets and sachels), Mahli Jewelry, Missy and Me Designs, ZekeStringer, and more. From 4 to 8 p.m. 187 Main Street.

Mark Cutler at the Greenwich Hotel: Singer-songwriter and Schemers lead singer Mark Cutler performs at the Greenwich Hotel Friday night. Cutler asks those attending to bring canned goods.

On Saturday ... 

The Sharing Locker’s holiday opening: The Sharing Locker holds its annual holiday opening at Westminister Unitarian Church on Kenyon Avenue. It’s an opportunity for those in need to collect non-food items, such as diapers and toiletries. Refreshments will be provided by Dunkin' Donuts. Each client will receive a cat and/or dog toy for their pet, thanks to the "Friends of Taika" campaign run by three young church members. The trio raised money to purchase the animal toys – enough to buy 132 toys for dogs and 123 toys for cats! Gift baskets will be given to 12 to 15 clients whose names are drawn at random. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Coastal Growers Winter Farmers Market: The Winter Farmers Market in North Kingstown features many vendors selling produce, meat, baked goods and artisan goods. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lafayette Mill at 650 Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown.

On Sunday ...

Florence Markoff at Temple Torat Yisrael: Florence Markoff will speak at EG’s Temple Torat Yisrael Sunday morning. She is known to many in our area for her stories of famous and little-known Rhode Islanders in "Rhode Island Portraits in Sound," which aired on several radio stations in Rhode Island. She was well known for her radio feature, "There's a Word for It," which explored the words we hear and say every day. She has performed one-woman programs before hundreds of audiences and was inducted into the Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame in May 2011. At 1251 Middle Road. Free and open to all. 9:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served.

Main Street Holiday Stroll: The theme this last stroll before Christmas (!) is fun and funny holiday hats. Everyone’s encouraged to wear a hat that expresses the season. The trolley will be back, making stops up and down Main Street. Santa will be at the Odeum for pictures, too. Noon to 4 p.m.

Christmas Community Italian Dinner: Christ Church is hosting a community dinner in the beautifully decorated sanctuary on the Sunday before Christmas. Dinner will include pasta and meatballs, salad, rolls and cake. Everyone is invited! There will be two "seatings" at 4:30 and 5:45 p.m. All are welcome. Free.
