24TH ANNUAL HARMONY LODGE GOLF TOURNAMENT

Harmony Lodge #9, F.&A.M., Doric Masonic Center will be hosting their 24th annual golf tournament on July 19, 2014 at the Crystal Lake Golf Club located at 100 Bronco Highway, Mapleville, RI 02839.  This year, proceeds from the tournament will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State (BBBSOS).  Crystal Lake Golf Club is contoured over rolling farmland surrounding 70 acre Crystal Lake.  Michael Cunningham, chairman of the Harmony Golf Tournament states, “I encourage everyone to join us for this most worthwhile charity event”. 

The event, begins at 7:30am with registration and a shotgun start at 8:00am sharp in scramble format includes, 18 holes round of golf, cart, raffles a steak luncheon at 1:00pm and prizes for longest drive, (Ladies & Men) and Closet to the pin (Ladies & Men).  The cost per golfer is $125 and again, all proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State. BBBSOS’ mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.  As the leading youth mentoring agency in the state, BBBSOS currently serves over 500 boys and girls.  Our program is proven to increase high school graduation rates among participants as well as raise their self-confidence while decreasing their likelihood to engage in risky behaviors like drugs and alcohol.  BBBSOS’s latest outcomes for mentored children are impressive: 82% showed improvement in self-confidence, 79.8% were better able to express their feelings, 66.3% developed better decision-making skills, 63.1% improved their academic performance.

BBBSOS is not just a mentoring program.  Our Donation Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation working to raise funds in support of our mentoring programs and offers convenient home pick-up of donations of gently-used clothing, household items and small furniture throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Connecticut, and provides a tax deduction receipt. Our retail partner, Savers, makes good, quality used clothing and household items available to the community at a low cost.
