Community Corner

"Our Neighborhood" featuring Hill & Harbour in East Greenwich, RI

Phipps Realty is very excited to share the first segment of our new web series “Our Neighborhood.” We thought it would be appropriate to start this project in our own backyard, well our new office’s neighborhood, Hill & Harbour.  Our production team (all two of us) spent a few days walking, running, driving, (kinda) flying up and down the hill, around the harbor and marina and all along main street.  The goal was to capture the essence of the community; our challenge was to avoid creating the typical real estate video.  So we kept it simple and talked to the people who reside, work and play in the neighborhood.  Sure, Big Ron and I know the area well enough to blast off a bunch of history and facts about all the landmarks and we could talk endlessly about real estate stats and effectively promote the convenience of the location… but can’t you get that information in a variety of places? Anyone who can type “top school system” into a google search will find East Greenwich, but will they discover the heart of the town? The beat and pulse of the community? What about the best places to eat and shop?  OR where can the kids go play?

Four years ago, Ron and I did a feature on Fox Providence’s “Rhode Show” about Tanglewood, East Greenwich.  It was cool to highlight one of EG’s oldest subdivisions and show off a couple Morehead colonials… but something was missing…. You!  The families actually living in those homes and the kids riding their bikes on the streets.  With our Hill & Harbour segment, we just walked around with a camera and asked people to tell us what they love about the neighborhood.  We didn’t have to press, in fact we made the editing process very hard for our videographer because we had so many exciting and engaging residents and who were thrilled to express just how much pride they feel for this very special place. Please take a few minutes and see what we experienced:

The average square footage of a home is pertinent information and it’s definitely a factor in selecting the home itself - but why do you choose to live in a certain neighborhood? Sense of community? Walkability to restaurants? Shops?  Privacy?  Convenience to highways? We will be shooting many of these segments, tell us why you love your neighborhood?  Which part of town should we feature next?
