For the last seven months, PODS has been actively working with CR Kids and has delivered 14 PODS containers to schools across the mid-Atlantic region. This past April and May, nearly 130,000 pounds of recycled materials were collected for reuse in the reliable PODS containers.

“Our alliance with Community Recycling Kids will help spread the important message of recycling and reusing, while helping children who are less fortunate at the same time,” said John B. Koch, President and CEO of PODS Enterprises, Inc. “We are excited to help this cause by using our PODS containers to help collect as many donations as possible.”

The collaborative efforts between PODS and CR Kids will connect the dots between unwanted items and the people that need affordable options. The clothing and accessories that have been collected will be distributed for resale and reuse in various U.S. locations and around the developing world. Over 70 percent of the global population is dependent on second hand goods, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

“As an environmentally-friendly solution, the affiliation between PODS and CR Kids will help bring maximum visibility to school children everywhere who are looking to collect for reuse and connect with diverse cultures where their things are destined to land,” said Lisa Pomerantz, vice president of marketing and development for Community Recycling. “We thank PODS for their generous support in helping us with our outreach for the ’Reuse Movement’ and the impact such small actions can have in our world today.”

In 2014, PODS plans to continue with the CR Kids clothing collection program by contributing PODS containers to 500 schools.
