THE FRIENDS OF EAST GREENWICH ANNOUNCE A YEAR OF EXCITING PROGRAMS

SAVE THE DATES!The Friends have been busy and we are excited to announce a year of exciting, entertaining, educational, engaging and just plain enjoyable programs - please mark your calendars for:

Saturday, September 7th – 1 pm. Meet at the library for a walking Tour of Peirce and Main Streets led by Bruce MacGonnigle. Limited to 30 people. Reservations suggested. Refreshments served at the library at the end of the tour.

Wednesday, September 18th – 6:30 pm Anthony Amore, director of Security at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, will give an illustrated talk on “Stealing Rembrandts” a history of art heists involving the Dutch master. His lecture will include details about the unsolved Gardner Museum theft in 1990 in which 13 art treasures were stolen. Amore has been leading efforts to find the missing artworks since he was hired by the museum in 2005.

Saturday, October 19th 2 pm. Dr. Andrea Dew will speak on the efficiency, disadvantages and morality of United States use of drone attacks.

Thursday, October 24th 6 pm. Friends Meet and Greet. Part of National Friends Membership Week

Saturday, November 9th 2-4 pm Tour of military museum at Varnum Armory. Limited to 25 people. Reservations recommended.

Thursday, December 5th – The Friends's Annual Winter’s Eve

Thursday, January 9th 6:30 The Friends annual meeting will include a program on “Clutter Control” by popular speaker David Downs. A light-hearted talk on why we have a tendency to hold on to our possessions. This no-blame presentation introduces strategies for eliminating clutter from our lives. Participants will leave inspired and ready to act on the suggestions they learned.

Saturday Afternoons – January 18, 25; February 7th (dates TBC) Mini film festival on the business of fashion. Showings of “The September Issue” and “Valentino the Last Emperor” with commentary by instructors in fashion merchandising at Johnson and Wales and URI.

Wednesday, January 25th 6:30 (date tentativeTBC) Talk and book signing by Richard Parker, author “The Improbable Return of Coco Chanel as Witnessed by her Assistant Richard Parker”
