EG United Methodist Church Adopts LGBT Inclusive Platform

In a statement, the church said they welcome sanctuary to all people, of every gender identity, race, sexual orientation, faith history, education and marital status after adopting a reconciling statement.

This spring, worshippers at East Greenwich United Methodist Church wrote and adopted a reconciling statement and have become a Reconciling Congregation.

A Reconciling Congregation is a United Methodist local church that makes a public statement welcoming all persons, regardless of sexual orientation, to participate fully in its congregational life. To learn more: http://www.rmnetwork.org

The church’s statement reads:

“The East Greenwich United Methodist Church strives to be a place of open hearts, open minds, and open doors. We believe in Christ’s commandment to love our neighbor and commit ourselves to be disciples rooted in compassion and caring for one another.

We firmly support, welcome, and offer sanctuary to all people, including those of every gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, marital and socioeconomic status, age, faith history, education, and physical and mental ability into the full ministry of the church.

While we recognize that there are differences among us, we believe that we can love alike even though we may not think alike. It is in this spirit that we invite all people to join us in our faith journey.”

All are invited for services on Sundays at 8:30 am and 10:00 am for Worship. Sunday School is held during the 10:00 am service. Child care is available during both services. The Church is handicapped accessible and air conditioned.
