Council Approves $110,000 For 3 Fire Department Projects
The Town Council approved spending $110,000 for three EG Fire Department infrastructure projects Monday night – $10,000 for bathroom renovations at Station One, $45,000 for repaving at Station Two and $53,000 for engineering and design work on a garage floor at Station One.

Police Arrest 2 Suspects In Moosehorn Breaking & Entering
East Greenwich Police arrested two suspects Thursday in connection with a breaking and entering on Moosehorn Road on Tuesday, Oct. 8. On Tuesday, residents of 330 Moosehorn Road told police their house had been broken into and that a number of jewelry and electronics items were taken.

EG Doctor Admits False Medical Credentials
Boris O. Bergus, a doctor at Americas Vein Centers, which has an office on South Country Trail, agreed to pay $10,000 and to have his practice restricted after the state discovered Bergus had falsified his resume, citing more medical training then he actually had.

Judy Bailey: Bright, Funny, Insightful ... 'Hard Not To Like'
Judy Bailey, who died Sunday at age 73, was first and foremost a farm wife and mother. But she had so much talent and smarts that she was destined to find outlets beyond the dairy farm on South County Trail where she lived with her husband, Rodney, and raised four children.

One of the things sadly missedfrom the old days by people with any history in the village are the characters. East Greenwich always had a vast array of characters in town. It seems the band of normal people was much more narrow in the past with more room top and bottom for the oddballs. Characters are always a topic of conversation and bind the community together. That is missing today, or at least not as apparent as in times past.

Police Log: More Copper Thefts
Thursday, Sept. 27, 4:33 p.m. – Police were called to a house on Division Street on a report of a possible breaking and entering in progress after a real estate agent entered the vacant house and found a large pile of cut copper piping on the kitchen floor. She smelled cigarette smoke.

MSNBC's Your Business Visits Main Street
No, that wasn't another (!) movie being filmed on Main Street on Saturday – it was a crew from MSNBC's "Your Business." The cable TV show was talking to merchants on Main Street about Small Business Saturday, which will be on Nov. 30 this year.

EG Man Arrested For Drug Trafficking
East Greenwich Police detectives, along with detectives from the Newport and Charlestown Police Departments, arrested Edgardo M. Gonzalez, 30, of East Greenwich, for selling cocaine to an undercover officer and other charges, after a joint narcotics investigation.

Town Council Names Tom Coyle New Town Manager
In a 5-0 vote, the Town Council approved the appointment of Tom Coyle as the town's new town manager. He succeeds Bill Sequino, who moved to a new job in July after 25 years on the job.
