Yesterday, I issued a statement detailing my plan to file legislation as soon as possible to require that both local and national criminal background checks be conducted on all current and potential school transportation staff who come into contact with children in East Greenwich.

Police Log: Parent Angered Over Bus Employee Arrest

Monday, Oct. 28, 2:10 p.m. – A Friendly Road resident reported to police that someone had vandalized her car the week prior. According to the woman, someone had scraped several letters (some unreadable) into the hood of her car. There are no suspects at this time.

Bus Co. Hires Firm To Conduct National Background Checks

Ocean State Transit, the bus company contracted by EG schools to provide bus transportation, has hired a third party company to conduct national background checks on all its employees, following the arrest of a bus monitor last week on child pornography charges.

EGHS Physics Team Places 3th In Yale Competition

The four-member physics team from East Greenwich High School captured third place in the annual Yale Physics Olympics competition at Yale University. Fifty teams competed.

Defending state champion EG Unified Volleyball defeated Cranston West Sunday afternoon, 2-1, in the Division 1 Unified Volleyball State Champions.

Hanging out with the EGHS Philosophy Club is a bit like spending time with your favorite cousins. There’s a comfort level with this group, which grows and shrinks weekly and even during their hourlong weekly meeting. People talk and they listen, agree and disagree.
