Miss East Greenwich is 1st Runner Up in Miss Rhode Island Pageant

Sixteen young ladies from across Rhode Island competed in the pageant at Rhode Island College.

A new Miss Rhode Island was crowned Saturday night.

Ivy DePew, Miss Providence, and a 2014 Master of Public Policy graduate of Brown University, is Miss Rhode Island 2014. DePew will compete in the Miss America Pageant on September 14, live from Atlantic City on ABC 6.

First Runner-Up in Miss Rhode Island this year is Miss East Greenwich Alexandra Curtis, a former ABC6 News Intern, and daughter of ABC6 Chief Political Reporter Mark Curtis. She is a 2014 graduate of Syracuse University in Public Relations and Political Science.

Hair and makeup for the pageant contestants was provided by Grace Labbe and her staff from, Shimmer Salon & Day Spa in East Greenwich. 

Allie Curtis will participate in the National Sweetheart Pageant over Labor Day weekend in Hoopeston, Illinois. This pageant is comprised of all the 1st Runners Up in each of the 50 state pageants. Funding for the trip has been generously provided by the East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce.
