Scout Shares Outdoor Activities With Best Buddies

One of the things Thomas Basso likes about Boy Scouts is the interaction with the outdoors – camping, building fires, the physical challenges. He realized that many of the kids he's met through Best Buddies haven't had the opportunity to experience those same activities. (Best Buddies pairs people with intellectual disabilities with typically developing peers.)

Basso decided to create of day of outdoor activities for his Best Buddy friends for his Eagle Scout project. His "Best Buddies Outdoor Day" took place Oct. 12 at Goddard Park.

Among the activities were arts & crafts, exploring a tent, traversing a wobbly bridge, and roasting marshmallows for s'mores.
