Weather: Let’s see … yes, the high today will be around 100 degrees in East Greenwich. Wow! For your cool musical enjoyment, today’s musical selection is Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” – take a trip down ‘90s memory lane. “Into the Grimm” performance: Come on down to the EGHS auditorium for the weekly children's performance series sponsored by the EG Parks & Recreation Department. This week is the University of New Hampshire's Theatre Department's Little Red Wagon Theatre. They will perform "Into the Grimm," a story that intertwines many fairytales. Parents must accompany their children. The show is free. For additional information contact the office at 886-8626, etx. 1.

Circus Smirkus: Circus Smirkus presents "Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” a new spin on the Wizard of Oz. The Smirkus Troupers are ages 10 to 18 and they perform around New England during the summer. They will be at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Richmond. Tickets available at smirkus.org. There are two shows both Friday and Saturday, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Shrek The Musical: Rhode Island Youth Theater invites you to come see Shrek The Musical, complete with a custom built, larger-than-life dragon, a live orchestra, and a talented cast of local kids. Shows are at 7 p.m. at North Kingstown High School (air-conditioned!) tonight and Saturday. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $12 and $14 through PayPal or at the door. Save the Bay Swim: I’m going to be swimming the Bay on Saturday and I wanted to connect with any other EG swimmers, kayakers or volunteers so maybe we could arrange a photo before or after the swim. If you are participating, shoot me an email.

Pink Day at Wildwood: Wildwood Nursery on Frenchtown Road invites you to help the Invincibelle Spirit Campaign for Breast Cancer Research today. Receive a 10 percent discount on selected pink plant. Wildwood will donate 20 percent of the original price of each plant sold to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Pink lemonade and treats will be served. All day.

Celebrate the Red, White, and Blue with your American Girl! Decorate two patriotic cupcakes – one for you and one for your doll – at Silver Spoon Bakery on Main Street. Free Skating at Boss Arena: URI’s Boss Ice Arena is offering a family-friendly option for cooling down this week during the above-average temperatures and humidity in R.I. Complimentary skate admission to community members wishing to get out of the heat this week will be offered today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Skate rentals are available for $5.
