Fundraiser For Sara Doherty Is Big Success

The owner of Sundance Therapies will undergo a bone marrow rescue soon.

Almost 300 people attended the fun-filled, love-filled "Smiles and Sangria for Sara" fundraiser last Sunday night. Sara Doherty, owner of Sundance Therapies, has Hodgkins lymphoma and will undergo a bone marrow rescue in a few days. The event was to raise money to help Sara cover the many things that aren't covered by her ongoing treatment.

The Fireman's Hall, adorned with sunflowers and smiley face balloons, was buzzing with support, positivity, and laughter. Musician John Brazile kept the crowd entertained on his guitar while photographer Mark Sven Oltedale snapped pictures (click here to see them). Food donated by Pinneli's, Greenwich Bay Gourmet, Natale's Deli, and Felicia's was enjoyed by all.

With over 60 items for auction and raffle, many people went home with impressive winnings. A few friends, Sara's brother, and Sara's dad, had the room both tickled and teary eyed as they recalled moments in Sara's life and told of her character.

"The love and support I felt that night has completely filled my tank and will carry the girls and me through these next few months," Sara wrote via email.
